“You Are” – Monday Musical Musings

It’s been months since I’ve been to Praise in Motion. My summer schedule has kept me from worshiping God in this special way. But the music from Praise in Motion continues to show up and remind of what is waiting when I am able to return.

DSC01820The song I share with you today is one of those songs. “You Are” reminds me that regardless of my circumstances, God is the One who fills my life and soul with all that I need. Healing. Light. A song. Breath. Hope. Provision. Cleansing.

But it goes on to remind me that there is a response for me when God has replenished my soul. I am to dance and shout endless praise to my Creator.

Do you find yourself in one or more of these circumstances today? If so, what will your response be? Will you ask the God of all creation to replenish your soul or will you allow the hurt of this world to drag you down? Will you ask the God of all creation to be your song, your breath and your hope? Will you respond to His graciousness with dancing and praise?

Before you read through the lyrics of this song, I’d like to remind you of David’s words from Psalm 149. He said, “Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. Let the saints rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.” (Psalm 149:1-5 – NIV)

Now, let’s worship the One who provides all that we need.

“You Are”[i]

When I can’t find the words to say how much it hurts
You are the healing in my heart
When all that I can see are broken memories
You are the light that’s in the dark

Chorus:
You are the song,
You are the song I’m singing
You are the air,
You are the air I’m breathing
You are the hope,
You are the hope I needed
You are

And when my circumstance leaves me with empty hands
You are the provider of my needs
When all my dirtiness has left me helpless
You are the rain that washes me

(Chorus)

If I had no voice,
If I had no tongue,
I would dance for you like the rising sun.
And when that day comes and I see your face.
I will shout your endless glorious praise.
