Springtime! Take Me Away!

I don’t know about you, but I am pretty anxious for this battle between winter and spring to be done. With excitement I embrace a warm day with bright sunshine and then it is followed by a blustery day filled with blowing snow, only to be followed by a semi-warm day.

The ups and downs of this time of year are discouraging. Sweater and winter coat one day and the next short-sleeve shirts and no jacket. I cannot wait to embrace warm weather.

However, I recall my very first visit to Colorado. It was in April and the weather was a little volatile then. There were a few warm, sunny days, but for the most part, it was overcast and chilly. I guess we still have April to get through before we can officially say, “It’s Spring!”

I don’t know about you, but life is sometimes like winter/spring weather. One day it’s going along well and then we’re hit with bad news. Or your spiritual life seems to be heading in a good way and then temptation pulls you under. These are the difficult times of our lives.

But what I can encourage you to do is to hang on. Just like the promise of spring, we have the promise that God’s Holy Spirit is with us and He will provide all that we need. Courage. Strength. Perseverance. Forgiveness. Comfort. Guidance. And this list could go on.

Please understand that you don’t have to do it alone. If you have given your life to Jesus, you have His Spirit to be your Helper. If you haven’t given your life to Jesus, perhaps this is the day for you to do so.

Life can be difficult, but when God is on our side, we have nothing to fear.

Today’s melody that I am reposting is the “Revelation Song.” It’s one of my favorites and I pray that it will open the eyes of your heart and that you will come to know Jesus in a way you never have before.

“Revelation Song” – Musical Musings in March

IMAG1492I cannot tell you the first time I heard “Revelation Song,” but what I do know is that every time I hear or sing this song, I am moved. With hands raised, inhibitions gone, I am in total worship of my God and King.

As a matter of fact, as I am writing this, the song is playing in the background and I had to stop for a little worship!

Perhaps it touches me in this way because of where the lyrics come from. Straight from Scripture and words spoken by the four living creatures around the throne of heaven. They never stop saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” (Revelation 4:8 – NIV) Day and night, they never stop!

But this isn’t all that’s going on around the throne. While the four creatures are praising God, “the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things and by your will they were created and have their being.’” (Revelation 4:10-11 – NIV)

The Apostle John offers this glimpse into heaven’s throne room. And what a glimpse it is! The throne of heaven. Someone seated on the throne in great splendor. A rainbow. The elders. Flashes of lightning. Rumblings and peals of thunder. Seven lamps. A crystal sea. Living creatures. Yes, this is quite a scene.

It’s no wonder worship was going on. The only One worthy of our praise was there in the midst of the scene. He is the same God we worship on weekends, throughout our weeks, and with our lives. We are to worship the Lamb who sits on the throne.

Now that you have the context of this beautiful worship song, let’s read through the lyrics together.

“Revelation Song”

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Holy, holy is He
Sing a new song to Him who sits on
Heaven’s mercy seat
(Chorus)

Clothed in rainbows of living color
Flashes of lighting rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor strength and glory and power be
To You the only Wise King

(Chorus)

Filled with wonder awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus Your name is power, breath and living water
Such a marvelous mystery

(Chorus)

Chorus:

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing praise to the King of kings
You are my everything and I will adore You, I will adore You[i]

Thank you God for musicians who can put words and music together into such a worshipful way. Thank you also that I am able to worship You whenever and wherever I wish. You are the Mighty God, able to save, and only You are worthy of my praise!

Now, we are about to head off into our world. We may be heading to work, the soccer field with your kids, or you may be staying at home. Wherever we’re headed, we must be part of it. So let’s go with this image in our minds. The Throne Room of Heaven. How glorious!

I pray that you’ve been touched by this series on music. I have looked forward to each day that I’m able to share a beautiful melody with you.

I certainly would love to hear from you. Can you choose a favorite psalm, hymn or spiritual song? If so, let me know. If you, like me, have a long list of songs that have touched you, I’d also love to hear about them.

Music touches our souls in a way that nothing else can. And that’s just the way God created us.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance,

Donna
