There is a little note on the refrigerator at work that says, \u201c\u2018And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus\u2026\u2019<\/em> (Colossians 3:17 \u2013 NIV) Please keep me clean.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I understand that any time there are a group of people who use a refrigerator there will be messes. Even if that group is family. There are times after my grandkids leave that I look at the front of my fridge and wonder where their dirty little hands were before they touched the front of it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But I think it is a good reminder for us. It doesn\u2019t matter what we\u2019re doing (cleaning a fridge or sharing God\u2019s message with the lost), we are to be doing it all in the name of the Lord.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To go along with this idea, let\u2019s see what else we should be doing \u201cin all things.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV) we read these words. \u201cSo whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Colossians 3:17 (NIV) {the verse listed above}, says \u201cAnd whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Paul continues with this thought in Colossians 3:23 (NIV). \u201cWhatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And back in 1 Corinthians, Paul shares just another encouragement. \u201cAlways give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.\u201d<\/em> (1 Corinthians 15:58b \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Whatever it is we do in this life, when we offer it all to Him, we can enjoy what we\u2019re doing. And I also know that God will bless us when He is part of the plan. (\u201cCommit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.\u201d<\/em> Proverbs 16:3 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Two weeks ago I was a sales clerk and a barista. Today I am an executive assistant to a lead pastor. That\u2019s a big jump by this world\u2019s standards. But I gave my all to being a sales clerk and a barista and in return, I received some beautiful gifts. Self-confidence. Joy. Responsibility. Belief that I was needed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Remember I had been out of work for nearly 3 years when I started working at Off the Shelf. I wasn\u2019t confident in myself at all. But after six months in my little world of coffee and books, I am now prepared and ready to take on this new task.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To be honest, it wasn\u2019t me or the bookstore that brought this surge of confidence to me. It was God. I had given the situation over to Him and He prepared me for something big.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And He is able to do the same for you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cNow to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.\u201d<\/em> (Ephesians 3:20-21 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When we off all that we do to Him, He will do far more than we could imagine. He knows our potential. He knows what we are capable of. He knows us because He created us.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Perhaps you are feeling a little down today. Keep reminding yourself that God is working it all out. He has a plan. A good plan and in your faithfulness to Him (of doing all that is mentioned above), He will bless you far beyond what you ask for.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So today, I won\u2019t just head off to be the best executive assistant I can be. Today I will do everything for God\u2019s glory and He<\/em> will make me the best executive assistant.<\/p>\n
