<\/a>I reluctantly agreed. Although I\u2019m a lover of Christmas lights, I understood his dilemma.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
It didn\u2019t take long for me to be disappointed as we turned down the road leading to our home either. We went out after dark last night and my house was bare. No lights. Nothing to draw me toward the house. I was a little sad.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I\u2019m reminded of how thankful I am to have a great Light to run to. The Light of the world doesn\u2019t come and go with the season. He doesn\u2019t dim when the weather is bad. His light shines through the darkest of dark and leads me home to Him.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
So today, let\u2019s look at Jesus, the Light of world.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Isaiah told of this great Light in his book. \u201cThe people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.\u201d <\/i>(Isaiah 9:2)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
John the Baptizer also told of this Light. He testified concerning the Light. \u201cThe true Light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.\u201d <\/i>(John 1:6-9)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And when Jesus walked onto the scene, the Light had arrived and He proclaimed it. \u201cI am the Light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.\u201d <\/i>(John 8:12)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
On another occasion Jesus said, \u201cWhile I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.\u201d<\/i> (John 9:5)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And as Jesus taught the crowds about the Light, He said, \u201cYou are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness over takes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. Put our trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light.\u201d<\/i> (John 12:35-36)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Once we become \u201csons of light,\u201d we are called to be a light in this world. We are to reflect the Light so that others might see Jesus through us.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Matthew 5:14-16 says, \u201cYou are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Our light is to be visible to all we come in contact with\u2026in order to praise God!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Paul shares in 2 Corinthians 4:6 a little about light. \u201cFor God, who said, \u2018Let light shine out of darkness,\u2019 made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Just as God created light in the beginning, He has placed light in our hearts. That light has meaning. That light contains a message. That light gives direction. That light is a beacon. That light draws us to it.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
What power we have received! Romans 13:12 also tells us to \u201cput on the armor of light.\u201d <\/i>We have this power from the Light all around\u2026inside and outside.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
So, what are you waiting for? The Light is here! The Light is waiting for you to shine! Don\u2019t keep the Light under a bushel\u2026oh no! I pray that you will \u201clet that little light shine\u201d for all to see and so that God would be glorified.<\/p>\n
