Today\u2019s musical musing is one of those songs that has taken an older hymn and brought it into our century. In 1834 Edward Mote wrote a hymn called \u201cThe Solid Rock.\u201d Mr. Mote understood the importance of holding onto Jesus as his hope, foundation, and anchor. Mr. Mote understood that regardless of what the day brought, he knew that Jesus was beside him and that he had nothing to fear.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"0005030206R-849x565\"<\/a>Mr. Mote\u2019s lyrics are used in this worship song, written nearly 200 years later. The message is still important. The message is still relevant. The message is still true. We need Jesus. I need Jesus.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We see these truths throughout Scripture. I\u2019m reminded of the parable Jesus spoke in Matthew 7:24-27. I recall Paul\u2019s words in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. I hear King David\u2019s words from Psalm 23. I look forward to the day I see John\u2019s vision of Revelation 22:12-21. And believing Paul\u2019s words to set Christ as the chief Cornerstone in Ephesians 2:19-22.<\/p>\n

The truth is, with Jesus as my Chief Cornerstone, I am able to face all this world throws at me. My world can shake around me, but my foundation is firm and solid so I am able to withstand the quaking around me.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So today, I pray that you will read these words and listen to this song that you will come to know the sure foundation that I have. Jesus. Hold tightly to His presence and the words found in Scripture. Cling to the One who is \u201cable to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.\u201d <\/i>(Ephesians 3:20-21 \u2013 NIV) Jesus, the Cornerstone.<\/p>\n
