Each day I will use a letter to share a Name of the Lord that begins with that letter based on Proverbs 18:10 and the fact that there is strength in the Lord\u2019s Name. I pray you\u2019ll be blessed and that you\u2019ll stop by often.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<p align=\"center\"><i>\u201cThe name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Proverbs 18:10 \u2013 NIV<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Faithful and True<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When someone asks to describe the words faithful and true, some might share a story or two about a faithful dog. I read a story of a nameless sheepdog that lived with a sheepherder in New Mexico. This sheepdog continued to take the flock of sheep out to pasture and cared for the flock every day\u2026even after the rancher died. When visitors discovered the man two years later, they found that that not only had the sheep survived, but that they had thrived.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fullmeasureofjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/1340158443410.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2184\" style=\"border: 3px solid black; margin: 10px;\" alt=\"1340158443410\" src=\"https:\/\/fullmeasureofjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/1340158443410-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fullmeasureofjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/1340158443410-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fullmeasureofjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/1340158443410.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>This faithful and true dog had proven his worth. He knew his job and he did it, without being told.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While we see glimpses of faithfulness and truth in our world, there seems to be more unfaithfulness and untruth. So where can we turn when we are overrun by unfaithfulness and untruth? We run to Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Jesus\u2019 Name is Faithful and True<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Take a look at Revelation 19:11 (NIV) <i>\u201cI saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When we run to this Name of the Lord, we can trust that Jesus will do what He says He\u2019ll do and that His words hold no untruth. Jesus came to earth to fulfill a mission\u2026to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). Jesus followed God\u2019s plan to bring people into His kingdom of grace. That meant, going to the cross.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When Jesus returns, the Name by which He will be called is Faithful and True and with that Name Jesus will judge the world. It\u2019s in that moment that I long to hear these words, <i>\u201cWell done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you I n charge of many things. Come and share your master\u2019s happiness!\u201d <\/i>(Matthew 25:23 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Jesus\u2019 Character is Faithful and True<\/b><\/p>\n<p>According to vocabulary.com, faithful describes someone who is reliable and consistent and true as things that are accurate, honest, and correct. Yes, these definitions describe Jesus, but so much more can be found in Him.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NIV) says, <i>\u201cThe one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.\u201d <\/i>These twelve words pack a punch! Jesus is faithful. Jesus calls. What Jesus calls me to will be accomplished. Jesus is able to do it. Now that\u2019s faithful.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jesus also spoke truth. If you recall reading His words, Jesus said \u201cverily\u201d a lot. Verily means \u201cI\u2019m telling you the truth\u201d or \u201cTruly\u201d or \u201cCertainly.\u201d And not only did Jesus speak truth, He was and is truth. <i>\u201cI am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.\u201d <\/i>(John 14:6 \u2013 NIV) You can believe everything Jesus said and did.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Jesus is Faithful and True because God is Faithful and True<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Jesus followed the example of His Father. Faithfulness and truth flow directly from God. And here are a few examples to prove it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cFor the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.\u201d<\/i> (Psalm 33:4 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cNot to us, O Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.\u201d<\/i> (Psalm 115:1 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cBecause of the Lord\u2019s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.\u201d<\/i> (Lamentations 3:22-23 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cGod, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.\u201d<\/i> (1 Corinthians 1:9 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cNo temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.\u201d<\/i> (1 Corinthians 10:13 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cIf we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.\u201d<\/i> (1 John 1:9 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Faithful and True. That is His Name. It is the Name to which we can run and be safe.
