<\/a>There is Christmas music in my car at all times. I never know when I will be in the mood to listen to one of my favorite tunes. It could be when I\u2019m feeling a little down or when I want to revisit happy memories or when my granddaughter is in the car or when I just want to listen to something fun.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
From Michael Bubl\u00e9 to 98\u00b0 to Jim Brickman to The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to Andy Williams, I have them all in my car and enjoy each one depending on my mood. And for me, it never gets old.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There\u2019s just something about Christmas music that brings joy to my soul. Rest to my weary body. Peace to my restless way of life.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
For me, however, Christmas music isn\u2019t the only way I am restored. More importantly, it isn\u2019t my first \u201cgo to\u201d to be restored. I know when I need restoration; I go to my heavenly Father. It is only in His arms that find real joy, real rest, and real peace.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Joy<\/strong><\/p>\n Nehemiah gives such encouragement in chapter 8, verse 10 (NIV). He says, \u201cThe joy of the Lord is your strength.\u201d<\/em> When nothing else will do, God\u2019s joy will give us the strength we need.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The book of Psalm says a lot about joy, but these two verses tell us of the joy God gives. \u201cThe Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.\u201d(<\/em>Psalm 126:3 – NIV) \u201cYour statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.\u201d<\/em> (Psalm 119:111 – NIV)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The New Testament is also filled with verses on joy. These are just a couple. \u201cMay the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.\u201d <\/em>(Romans 15:13 – NIV) \u201cThough you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.\u201d<\/em> (1 Peter 1:8-9 – NIV)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Peace<\/strong><\/p>\n Jesus states in John 14:27 (NIV), \u201cPeace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.\u201d <\/em>Another of God’s glorious gifts he has given. His peace!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He also says, \u201cI have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.\u201d <\/em>(John 16:33 – NIV) It is only by being in Christ will we find true peace.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Paul tells us that Jesus is our peace in Ephesians 2:11 – NIV). Through this \u201cpeace,\u201d all barriers can be broken down. There is unity. Hostility is banished. Now that is real peace.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Rest<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cTherefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure.\u201d<\/em> (Psalm 16:9 – NIV) There is security in rest, but only when God is the center of that rest.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Psalm 62:5 (NIV) also tells us that rest is accompanied by hope. \u201cFind rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cA little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest.\u201d<\/em> (Proverbs 16:10 – NIV) I love this little verse\u2026should almost be a nursery rhyme.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And of course, Jesus\u2019 words to us when we just can\u2019t seem to take one more step. \u201cCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.\u201d<\/em> (Matthew 11:28 – NIV)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n These are just a few of the ways God brings restoration to our lives and souls. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can put these words into action.
