We hear the word \u201chappy\u201d all the time. There are happy dances, happy songs and happy happenings. We celebrate happiness, embrace happiness, as well as search for happiness. And just how do you know if someone is happy? They are usually bubbling with it, right? You know<\/em> when someone is happy.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Of course, there are those who may not be \u201chappy\u201d about something. An artist might say, \u201cI\u2019m not happy with this piece of work.\u201d A race car driver might say, \u201cI\u2019m not happy with the way my car is handling.\u201d A business person might say, \u201cI\u2019m not happy with the way this deal turned out.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For some, happiness can sometimes be elusive. Happiness can be fleeting. Happiness is only as good as long as there\u2019s something around the corner to make you happy once again.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Obviously the question we must ask is, \u201cWhat does it really mean to be happy?\u201d Let\u2019s see what God\u2019s Word has to say about happiness.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I spent a little time with a few verses of Scripture, my colored pencils and the Lord this morning. These few verses give us four elements to happiness! Take a look.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cGod\u2019s blessings follow you and await you at every turn; when you don\u2019t follow the advice of those who delight in wicked schemes, when you avoid sin\u2019s highway, when judgment and sarcasm beckon you, but you refuse. For you, the Eternal\u2019s Word is your happiness. It is your focus\u2014from dusk to dawn. You are like a tree, planted by flowing, cool streams of water that never run dry. Your fruit ripens in its time; your leaves never fade or curl in the summer sun. No matter what you do, you prosper.\u201d <\/em>(Psalm 1:1-3 \u2013 The Voice)<\/p>\n

Did you see the four elements to happiness? Here they are.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Element 1<\/strong><\/p>\n

Follow good advice<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Element 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

Follow the path of righteousness<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Element 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

Allow delightful, encouraging words to flow from your lips<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Element 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

Focus on God\u2019s Word\u2026day and night<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Perhaps you are missing one of these elements. If so, why not spend some time with God today and allow Him to begin His work in that area of your life? I don\u2019t know about you, but I want to be like that tree that flourishes and produces good fruit and lives well. Today I pray that you will find your happiness in God.<\/p>\n
