I searched for something to add here and just didn\u2019t find the perfect poem, so I thought I\u2019d share the words to a hymn. It\u2019s poetry\u2026and its music\u2026however, if you don\u2019t know the hymn, you won\u2019t know the melody and sing it in your head as I do when I read the words to a song.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fullmeasureofjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Daytona-500-004.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1969 \" style=\"border: 3px solid #000000; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/fullmeasureofjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Daytona-500-004-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Daytona 500 004\" width=\"224\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fullmeasureofjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Daytona-500-004-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fullmeasureofjoy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Daytona-500-004.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a>Anyway, I thought of this beauty and wanted to share. The music for \u201cAnd Can It Be?\u201d was written in 1738 by Charles Wesley. It is recorded that Charles wrote this song soon after his conversion. In 1825, Thomas Campbell added the lyrics. These are powerful words, not just for Thomas and Charles, but each one of us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is difficult to understand how God could love us so much, but the fact is, He does. How precious we are to our heavenly Father!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So as you take a look at these words, remember where you were before you encountered Jesus. Thank God for His beautiful grace. Claim your crown. Live for Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd Can It Be?\u201d<a href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And can it be that I should gain an int\u2019rest in the Savior\u2019s blood?<\/p>\n<p>Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued?<\/p>\n<p>Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God shouldst die for me?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He left His Father\u2019s throne above, so free, so infinite His grace!<\/p>\n<p>Emptied Himself of all but love, and bled for Adam\u2019s helpless race!<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Tis mercy all, immense and free, for, O my God, it found out me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Long my imprisoned spirt lay fast found in sin and nature\u2019s night.<\/p>\n<p>Thine eye diffused a quick\u2019ning ray: I woke\u2014the dungeon flamed with light!<\/p>\n<p>My chains fell off, my heart was free, I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No condemnation now I dread: Jesus, and all in Him, is mine!<\/p>\n<p>Alive in Him, my living Head, and clothed in righteousness divine.<\/p>\n<p>Bold I approach the eternal throne and claim the crown, through Christ my own.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnd God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/em> (Ephesians 2:6-7 \u2013 NIV)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Grace and peace be yours in abundance,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Donna<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref1\" name=\"_edn1\">[i]<\/a> \u201cAnd Can It Be?,\u201d words and music by Charles Wesley and Thomas Campbell, public domain, 1738 and 1825.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; It\u2019s Thursday and I\u2019m back to writing about poetry.
