Baby Liam – Day 1

What a journey this has been. I’m so excited to share with you that the newest addition to our family has arrived and all is well. I am headed to see this little bundle of joy, so I’ll be sharing some older blog posts for several days. Blessings upon you my dear readers and friends. You are much appreciated and loved.

“My Life is in Your Hands” – Monday Musical Musings

birdsI fell in love with Kathy Troccoli years ago. The deep, rich tones that flowed from her voice stirred such longing within me. Kathy’s vocal range fell within my own, so naturally, I wanted to sing Kathy’s music.

The only song that ever entered my repertoire however was “My Life is in Your Hands.” To be honest, if I was going to choose one of her songs, this was the one to choose! These lyrics became words I repeated over and over during some of my most difficult moments in life, as well as when things seemed to be going well.

Perhaps you can relate to these lyrics. Maybe today is not going well or you know that difficulty awaits you. If that is the case, share those difficulties with Jesus. Even when we forget Jesus is with us, He is still there and wants to help you through these difficult moments.

Maybe today is a great day for you. Jesus is still with you and He would love for you to chat about what’s right in your life. Let’s not forget to spend time with Jesus when all is well in our lives.

When we surrender our lives to the One who loves us more than life itself, our lives are in good hands.

Take a look at the lyrics of “My Life is in Your Hands” and then click on the link below to listen to Kathy’s beautiful voice as she lifts her heart to God. And then I pray that you too can say, “my life is in your hands, Jesus.”

“My Life is in Your Hands”

Life can be so good
Life can be so hard
Never knowing what each day
Will bring to where You are

Sometimes I forget
And sometimes I can’t see
That whatever comes my way You’ll be with me

My life is in Your hands
My heart is in Your keeping
I’m never without hope
Not when my future is with You

Chorus:

My life is in Your hands
And though I may not see clearly
I will lift my voice and sing
‘Cause Your love does amazing things
Lord, I know, my life is in your hands

Nothing is for sure
Nothing is for keeps
All I know is that your love
Will live eternally

So I will find my way
And I will find my peace
Knowing that you’ll meet my every need

(Chorus)

When I’m at my weakest oh
You carry me
Then I become my strongest Lord
In Your hands

(Chorus)[i]

“M” Words and the Christian Woman

???????????????????????????????Looking in the mirror, all I see is me.

Nothing exceptional, but I am special.

No matter what age, I will always be a child;

For I am a child of God.

I do not desire to be the one who turns heads,

Nor do I desire to be the one who gets ahead.

But I do desire to the be one drawn to Thee,

For I do desire that others see Christ in me.

I am just flesh and bones,

A body that will soon just waste away.

But I gaze at myself and Lord, I do pray…

That You will fill me with Your gentle Spirit,

So that I may show others that You are the only Way.

I pray You place many on my daily path

And give words that reflect a humble heart.

May I plant seeds of faith that allow them to see You,

Lord, who has loved them from the start.

Oh, let me be a reflection of Your love, Lord.

Open their eyes so they may see.

I desire nothing more than to allow You to

Glorify Yourself through me.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance,

Donna

Peace that Passes All Understanding

So much going through my mind this morning, but can’t seem to get it on paper. So instead of writing, I need to be praying. Will you join me in prayer today? Here are the things I need clarity about.

Daytona Beach 021mWisdom

I was supposed to head to Ohio next Wednesday to be there for the birth of my newest grandchild. Complications have dictated that Liam will be announced to the world today. I need clarity on when to head that direction. To keep my plans as they are or to make the changes.

Liam’s birth

These complications are serious. Please pray for a smooth delivery today and that both Heather and Liam are healthy. Might also pray for my son Philip…there will be a new baby in his life!

Peace

I’m here. They’re there. I need God’s peace through this day.

I love God’s timing…tomorrow in creative Bible journaling I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on God’s peace and how we can trust Him through each situation of our lives. I’m so thankful I was working through Isaiah 26:3-4 when my son called. Thank you God for your provision.

I’ll close for now with these words from Isaiah. Blessings to you this day and I pray that God’s peace is flooding your hearts and souls.

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.” (Isaiah 26:3-4 – NIV)

A Nail Job

At the beginning of May, I decided to try the gel nail polish on my nails. I loved it! It went on quickly and dried much faster than the usual nail polish. And it lasted a couple of weeks without chipping or losing its shine.

Daytona Beach 014mSince then, I’ve made several trips to the salon to get this product on my nails. Then I started reading about what it could do to my nails. Not good. So I followed all the guidelines to get the polish off my nails to begin the healing process.

I was mortified. My nails were in such bad shape and many are paper thin. The healing process is going to take a long time, but I’m committed to getting my nails back to what they once were, without gel polish.

I believe we can relate this to our spiritual life. At least I can. Sometimes we jump on the latest and greatest bandwagon for developing our spiritual lives. I’m not saying that all of these things are bad, I just think we need to be careful and do our research on what these studies are all about.

I also believe we sometimes want the easy way out. We want spiritual formation to happen and we want it happen now. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t happen that way. Spiritual formation takes time and effort on our part.

I also wonder if we don’t do damage when we try a fast track. We don’t spend time in God’s Word. We come to conclusions without in-depth study. And we form opinions based on what we have gleaned from our little bit of study. Perhaps that opinion isn’t really in line with God’s Word. The passage we studied might have been for another group of people, or it may have been a quote by a philosopher, or the passage we looked at was just one piece to the whole picture.

And then I believe once we realize that we have some misconceptions or very little growth in our lives, it’s time to begin the healing process. And most often, this takes time.

So what and how are we to grow spiritually?

We should investigate what materials we use to develop spiritually.

We should make spiritual formation a discipline in our lives.

We should take the time to be in God’s Word

We should begin the healing process if needed.

I want to encourage you with a few verses of Scripture. I pray that you will find the desire within you to grow in your spiritual walk with the Lord.

“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.” (Ephesians 4:14-15 – NIV)

“And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.” (Colossians 1:10-12 – NIV)

“Let Freedom Ring” – Monday Musical Musings

For America, today is a special day of remembrance. The day our freedom was secured and when we became the United States of America.

american flagThe patriots of the American Revolutionary War fought to allow us the freedom we have today in America. Because of their sacrifice, we should spend today thinking of what it cost them. Some, their property and possessions. Some, their freedom. Some, their lives. But for these men (and women who stood behind them), they would have given all they had for their freedom.

I’ve chosen a patriotic song today that I pray will touch you in some way. And of course, it’s by the Gaither’s, so you know it is good.

Happy birthday America!

“Let Freedom Ring”[i]

Deep within the heart has always known that there is freedom
Somehow breathed into the very soul of life
The prisoner, the powerless, the slave have always known it
There’s something that keeps reaching for the sky

Even life begins because a baby fights for freedom
And songs we love to sing have freedom’s theme
Some have walked through fire and flood to find a place of freedom
And some faced hell itself for freedom’s dream

Let freedom ring wherever minds know what it means to be in chains
Let freedom ring wherever hearts know pain
Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key
We can be free and we can sing – let freedom ring

God built freedom into every fiber of creation
And He meant for us to all be free and whole
When my Lord bought freedom with the blood of His redemption
His cross stamped pardon on my very soul

I’ll sing it out with every breath, I’ll let the whole world hear it
This hallelujah anthem of the free
That iron bars and heavy chains can never hold us captive
The Son has made us free and free indeed

Let freedom ring down through the ages from a hill called Calvary
Let freedom ring wherever hearts know pain
Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key
You can be free and you can sing let freedom ring
Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key
You can be free and you can sing let freedom ring
You can be free and you can sing – let freedom ring – let freedom ring
