“Worthy is the Lamb” – Musical Musings in March

Sometimes there’s not much that can be said about a piece of music. The song points us in a direction and we follow. I mean, think about it. The “National Anthem” begins. We stand. We remove our hats. We place our hands over our hearts. We sing.

IMAG1492Some music leads us to prayer, like “The Lord’s Prayer.” Some music leads us to movement or even dance, like “He’s So Good to Me,” or “Oh, Happy Day.”

And then some music leads us straight to the throne room of God where we worship and praise the King of kings and Lord of lords. Today’s song is such a song.

When I hear this song, I am transported. Because of God’s great love for me and the price He paid, I am able to thank Him for taking the burden of my sin. When I am in that place, I am able to worship the Lamb.

Won’t you join me in the throne room? Let’s lift our voices and hands to the One who is worthy of our praise. The Treasure of heaven (or as the original words say, “darling of heaven”). Jesus, sitting on the throne, crowned with many crowns. The Lamb of God.

Thank Him today for the price He paid for you. Thank Him today for the love and amazing grace you have received. Thank Him today for the victory you share with Jesus.

“Worthy is the Lamb”

Thank you for the cross Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came and gave amazing grace

Thank you for this love Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know Your forgiveness and embrace

Chorus:

Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious

High and lifted up
Jesus, Son of God
The Treasure (Darling) of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb[i]

There are several versions of this song to be found, but my favorite is by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. It’s so majestic, beautiful, and leads me into the throne room of God. If you would like to meet me there, click here.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance,

Donna
