“Give Me Jesus” – Monday Musical Musings

This morning, I know of far too many people who are hurting. Friends and family are experiencing heartache and grief beyond words. My heart aches right alongside these precious folks in my life.

???????????????????????????????I also know of some beauty that has entered this world in recent days. Oh the joys of bringing new life into this world! How blessed some of my family and friends are feeling this morning as they wake.

Maybe you and I can’t relate to these heartaches or joys, but I know Someone who does and can. His Name is Jesus! And to be honest, when everything else in my life seems to be falling apart or when I am experiencing a mountaintop high, the only One I want to know and love and be covered by is Jesus.

This morning, I pray that regardless of where you fall in the spectrum of life that you too will desire to be in Jesus’ presence above all.

A beautiful verse in Colossians helps us to understand this idea a little better. “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:17 – NIV) Jesus holds all things together! Of course He does! Why wouldn’t we put all of our trust and faith in Him?

This morning I want to share this tune that has been around for a long time. I’m sure many people have held onto the words of this song during the ups and downs of life. What about you? Can you join them (and me) in saying, “you can have all this world, but give me Jesus”? I pray that you will.

“Give Me Jesus”

In the morning, when I rise
In the morning, when I rise
In the morning, when I rise
Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus, give me Jesus
You can have all this world
But give me Jesus

And when I am alone
Oh and when I am alone
And when I am alone
Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus, give me Jesus
You can have all this world
But give me Jesus

And when I come to die
Oh and when I come to die
And when I come to die
Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus, give me Jesus
You can have all this world
You can have all this world
You can have all this world
But give me Jesus[i]
