Folks, I’m reminded again this morning that life is very short. I am reminded that we cannot take one moment for granted. I am reminded that we must not waste any time on the things are unimportant. I am reminded that saying “I love you” to those who mean the most to me must flow freely from my heart. I am reminded that my life must reflect Jesus in every circumstance.
For in an instant, everything could change.
I, along with many of my friends, are mourning the loss of a lovely prayer warrior this morning. She is with Jesus, but how we will miss her.
I learned much in the short time I knew this lovely lady and her smile, her laughter, her wisdom, her prayer life, her love for Jesus will remain with me for many years to come.
Today as we consider our relationship with Jesus, I pray that each of us comes to the understanding that we need Jesus more than anything in this world. And once we know it in our heart, that we will share the love of Jesus with those we know and meet. My dear friend was a great example of this.
“People Need the Lord” – Monday Musical Musings
“People Need the Lord” is a song made popular by Steve Green in the early 90’s. This melody stirs up memories and emotions within me each time I hear it. Yes, it takes me back to those moments in time when I first heard this tune, but it also is a reminder that every person on this planet needs God more than anything else this world has to offer…and how I miss opportunities to share His love with them.
I’ve been touched by God’s Spirit to share His message with others through the years. Whether it was in my college dorm room or hearing the presentation of a service trip opportunity to SE Asia, God has shown me what to do. To share with others what meaning God can bring to their lives.
In my heart I knew and know that only the Lord can fill the void in our lives. God created us to desire Him and Him alone. King David knew this as well. Take a look at his words. “O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” (Psalm 63:1 – NIV)
When we are in a dry and weary land, God invites us to come to the water. “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters, and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.” (Isaiah 55:1-3 – NIV)
Jesus spoke to this in John 6 when He declared “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35 – NIV)
Regardless of what we are going through, we need the Lord. Every person we pass by today needs the Lord. It’s up to you and me to share this message with them. Only the Lord can satisfy all that they long for. Are you willing to share what you know to be true?
The lyrics to “People Need the Lord” are below. I pray that you will be touched and that you will realize that every person, everywhere needs the Lord.
“People Need the Lord”
Everyday they pass me by,
I can see it in their eyes.
Empty people filled with care,
Headed who knows where?
On they go through private pain,
Living fear to fear.
Laughter hides their silent cries,
Only Jesus hears.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
At the end of broken dreams, He’s the open door.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
When will we realize, people need the Lord?
We are called to take His light
To a world where wrong seems right.
What could be too great a cost
For sharing Life with one who’s lost?
Through His love our hearts can feel
All the grief they bear.
They must hear the Words of Life
Only we can share.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord
At the end of broken dreams, He’s the open door.
People need the Lord, people need the Lord.
When will we realize that we must give our lives,
For people need the Lord.[i]
I love this version of this song. Steve Green and Song Jung Mi sing a duet. It doesn’t matter what the language; the message is still the same. People need the Lord! Click here to listen to this beautiful tune.
Grace and peace be yours in abundance,
