Looking for the Good Life?

I was reminded this past week of my favorite section of Scripture…some might call this portion my life verses. But what I love about these words is the encouragement I find, the wisdom found and the reminder of Who it all comes from.

“This is the good life—my heart is glad, my soul is full of joy and my body is at rest. Who could want for more? You will not abandon me to experience death and the grave or leave me to rot alone. Instead, you direct me on the path that leads to a beautiful life. As I walk with You, the pleasures are never-ending, and I know true joy and contentment.” (Psalm 169-11 – The Voice)

My heart is glad today. We begin Women’s Bible Connection at Rocky this morning. These ladies always bring a smile to face and who doesn’t love studying God’s Word! Right? It’s a wonderful day!

My soul is full of joy today. Not only am I getting ready for women’s programming to begin, but I have family coming in on Saturday for a week. And I’m on vacation too! I am so excited for next week!

My body…well it’s getting as much rest as my mind will allow. I know there are a dozen things that have to get done before 9:00 am this morning. I know there are more than that to get done around my house before 9:00 am on Saturday morning. Sometimes I can’t shut this brain down. But my body is rested. It’s enough. Vacation and sleep-in days are just around the corner…yeah right. What are sleep-in days?

And the beautiful promise seen in these verses assure me that I am not alone in my daily toiling. Jesus is with me. He is leading and guiding. He is pushing me to go further. He is reminding me that I am not alone. What a blessed promise!

So when we put all of this together, we know true joy and contentment. Yep. Wow! I am once again amazed at the provisions from my Lord.

I can’t say I feel these elements every single day, but what I can say is that I know I can experience each element as I bring my concerns to Jesus. That’s exactly what Jesus wants us to do. Remember His words in Matthew 11:28 (NIV). “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” He’s offering. Why not take Him up on His offer?

This is what I can say today. Thank you Jesus for this beautiful life. Thank you for the pleasures you open my eyes to each day. Yes, this is the good life.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance,

Donna
