A Little Bit on Love

I was able to journal this morning! What an exciting way to start the day. Now I don’t have my new journaling Bible yet, but I have a prayer journal that I’ve been using. So I added my little bit to it.

So I’m not all that creative. I see something I like (you know, on Pinterest) and use the best parts of an idea to come up with something. Today used a passage from the love chapter in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13.

Here’s a reminder of what love is. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a – NIV)

Earthly love may or may not be able to keep up with this definition of love. I believe it’s that word “always” that gets in the way. Why is that word there? Why can’t we just love when we want? Or when we like the person? Or when we’re in a good mood? Or when things are going smoothly? Well, because if you re-read this definition of love, there are no conditions. Love is all of these things all of the time.

But you and I know that this is easier said than done. You and I know that we’ve struggled with loving one another. And this is where the Holy Spirit comes into the picture. With His guidance and assistance, we are able to love one another in this biblical way.

Here is some more good news. Where earthly love fails, God’s love abounds. He is patient. He protects. He trusts. He hopes. He perseveres. Always! He never fails!

God will never fail you. He will always be there for you. Now that is what love is about.

I pray that this reminder of love will help you through your day. Make it a good one filled with love!

Grace and peace be yours in abundance,

Donna
